T,
Sorry, not too sure what you mean?
Skirmishers fire under a seperate system, so are not involved with volley fire.

Re: Friendly Skirmishers
Hi Traffic,
You can’t fire a volley through friendly skirmishers if that is what you are asking. You need to move them out of the way first.

Re: Friendly Skirmishers
Thanks for the answer. It makes sense as it isn't covered anywhere so wanted to check. Does the skirmish screen also prevent friendly artillery from firing through it?
Re: Friendly Skirmishers
Hi Traffic,
The skirmish screen counts as a friendly unit so the rule under “Restricted Fire and Line of Sight” on page 75 applies to it as to any other friendly unit.
Artillery might be able to fire over a friendly skirmish screen subject to the rule on page 79, but not through one.
Enemy skirmish screens are treated differently obviously.

Re: Friendly Skirmishers
thanks for clearing that up, I was just checking because page 71 says that shot will always pass through and doesn't differentiate between friendly or enemy units
Re: Friendly Skirmishers
Those sections on page 71 are clearly dealing with firing on the enemy, not your friends who are likely to take exception to being fired through.
It’s a convenient rule device to avoid protracted artillery fire only affecting enemy skirmishers.

Re: Friendly Skirmishers
T,
No rule specifically mentions not being able to fire upon/through friendly units - it's a given, including skirmishers.
After all, if you were a skirmisher and some gunners started firing through your lines to hit the enemy, I suspect this would lead to a very direct and particularly violent conversation between said skirmishers and the artillerymen!
