Lardy Specials
Just What is a “Special”?
Twice a year we at TooFatLardies prepare our Summer or Christmas Specials, very much taking our lead from the comic book “Specials” of our childhoods. In those days the popular childrens comics would produce bumper editions, full of all the usual favourites but (what seemed at the time) HUGE amounts more of them. Looking back one can only presume that parents were enticed into buying these weighty tomes in the hope that their offspring might give them at least some peace and quiet during their school holidays.

Now we have extended that concept to provide what are, essentially, wargames magazines but bigger – jam packed with articles, scenarios and mini-supplements for all of our rule sets. The response to these Specials has been enthusiastic to say the least. One reader, not atypical, tells us “I have stopped buying wargames magazines generally, but I wouldn't miss out on your Summer of Christmas Specials, they are just too inspiring”. Mind you, I think he was drunk...

So what's in them? Well, each one typically has a mini-supplement for one of our rule sets, articles on painting and terrain building, scenarios for all the rules, mini-campaign ideas, historical articles with real gaming content, previews of what's in the pipeline on Lard Island, all backed up with great photographs from real games. Demand has been such that these are all still available, and will continue to be so.

But lets look at the contents in detail:
